Paint protection film (PPF) protects your paint from rock chips, scratches and road damage. The finish you choose decides how the car looks once it is protected. Here is how to think about gloss and matte (satin) film.
Gloss PPF
- Keeps the factory look and enhances depth and shine on gloss paint.
- Nearly invisible once installed.
- The right choice for most daily drivers.
Matte or satin PPF
- Gives a smooth, non-reflective finish.
- Protects factory matte or satin paint without changing its look.
- Can turn a gloss car into a satin one while it is protected.
How to choose
Start with your paint. If your car has matte or satin paint, matte film is the right match. If you want to keep a glossy look, choose gloss. If you want a new look, satin film changes the finish without repainting. Whichever you choose, a good install matters as much as the film.
Care
Wash gently with a pH-neutral soap and a microfiber mitt, and avoid automatic washes with brushes. Matte films should not be waxed or polished, so use products made for matte finishes.
