There is no single answer, because it depends on how you use the car and where it parks. This is a sensible baseline for a daily driver in South Florida.
Washing
- Every one to two weeks, or sooner after bugs, birds or heavy rain and dust.
- Use a safe method: pre-rinse, pH-neutral soap, a clean mitt and a proper dry.
Interior cleaning
- Quick vacuum and wipe down every few weeks.
- A deeper interior detail every three to six months: vacuum, steam or shampoo fabric, clean and condition leather, treat plastics and clean the glass.
- More often with kids, pets or food in the car.
Exterior detail and protection
- A full exterior detail with decontamination (clay and iron removal) and fresh sealant or wax about two to four times a year if you do not have a coating.
- A ceramic coating reduces how often you need to do this. A yearly inspection and refresh is still smart.
Paint correction
- Only when needed, since it removes a thin layer of clear coat. Fix swirls and scratches once, then protect the paint so they do not return.
Glass, wheels and trim
- Clean glass whenever it is dirty. A glass sealant helps rain bead off.
- Clean wheels with a product made for your wheel finish.
- Treat rubber and exterior trim with a UV protectant every few months.
Adjust for your situation
- Parked outside or near the coast: more often.
- Garage kept and lightly driven: less often.
- New car: protect it early with coating or film, so the paint never gets damaged.
Regular light care is cheaper and easier than a big restoration after neglect.
